The signs are still there LOL! And in response to the earlier inquiry about the "panhandler", its highly likely that it was Adrienne or however she spells it. I just saw her this morning walking north between SF and JR with a piece of cardboard with no writing whatsoever on it and all her worldly possessions. Being in the Christmas spirit I decided to pulverize her asshole for about 45 minutes. Damage: 40+10.

Had to spot out my cousin in the care of my Aunt when his car konked out, so having to pass by the illustrious JR area, I spent 2 Jacksons from my Christmas bonus when I came upon the noted panhandler, Adriana, with the empty sign (a poster on another board said that she was illiterate and hadn't finished school, so that might explain it). I am a Christian so I always want to help out around the Day of Birth of My Lord and Savior, so made a donation to the kitty. I did not like the smell of the bags of junk she was carrying, I will have to fumigate my car now for the bed bugs and lice. I wonder how often she bathes either. She wanted me to take my car to some back road alley, but no thanks. My workmate actually owns a redevelopment destined property on Lantz, so I headed there because I knew there wouldn't be a set up. As the OP said, Greek is definitely on the menu and from the sounds emanating it was either making her feel great or making her regret doing it. Either way, good for me. I channeled my inner Gordie Howe and enjoyed multiple shots on goal. She asked if I had a place for her to stay. No thank you, not going to take that into my home.

Damn, I wasn't even born at that time, I wish video of it exists. Was the 90's and early 00's any better? I didn't get into it until the 2010's and before that I'd see a couple here and there on Woodward, michigan ave and John are. That was when I was going to and from places. Now its 1 maybe 2 or nothing. I miss the early 00 though, felt like a special time to me. On the hunt trying to do something for 10 and 15 knowing I didn't have anything extra for myself LOL.

The 80's and early 90's were great until the aids panic set in in the mid 90's. Most of the street action had shifted to the Cass corridor and 2nd Ave and of course John are. Some of the girls were smokin hot back in those days. Not the drug ugly ones you mostly find today. I find it odd that the quality has gone so far downhill given the rise in population of the US in general. Then of course there was the Detroit Municipal governments law to confiscate cars which further put a damper on the action.

Of course the exact opposite has happened in Detroit area Strip clubs (mostly now the suburban ones less so the ones in Detroit proper). Back in the 70's 80's you could barely touch a girl in a Strip club without getting thrown out of that club and asked not to return and there were no private dance areas. The last 15 years or so Strip clubs were (pre Covid) a sexual free for all if you could / can afford the higher rates of course. Detroit again put a damper on clubs in the city by removing the ability of clubs to have enclosed private dance areas. I've read Strip club boards on this site from other cities and by far and away the Detroit area clubs are the best you'll find for action anywhere in the country.

Was there many times in 70's and early 80's, had my favs to take in the back room so we could lay down. Even had takeout with my fav to bachelor parties. Of course she gave me her phone# so I could see her at her apt, no house fee plus she keeps all of the money. The Vincent Chin incident ruined that place. Near 10 & Van Dyke there was a massage parlor where I could take my pick, all you had to do was negotiate. My fav there gave me her phone # so I could see her at her apt. All good times back in the day. Cell phones weren't invented "back in the day", people actually answered with no caller ID and couldn't call you back.

I was a sophomore in 1982 - 1983 and an 'older guy' (I think he was all of 19 then.) took my pal and I to check out Woodward that Summer. I agree w / the other posters in that the SW's then were many and bold. There was not even an ATTEMPT to be discreet or hide on their parts. My personal mongering days didn't start until 1987 but yes, I at least got to 'view' some of those early '80's times! .

TO TOP IT ALL OFF THERE WAS ANDERSONS GARDENS in the Cass corridor. It was A hooker bar full of gorgeous girls of all Nationalities. Just like in the Movies.

The hotel was next door and charged by the hour. No crackheads or drugged out girls way back then in the 70's. Wow to be back there with money.

I'm old enough to remember when Hazel Park had signs post that said decoy's in area.

I said it before, I missed out on so much. I'm up for story time. How was it back then and what all went down? Was it easier? You guys ever miss those days? I know I miss the few fun times I had.

Ah yes, Adrienne, a. K. a. , Adriana! I picked her up earlier this year as well as once in 2015. She has definitely been working the streets for awhile.
