Friendship is a two way street. Friendship can be had or kindled at an AMP but that more or less means that you're no longer a customer. Many of us have businesses where we have clients who have turned into friends, in fact. But it's still a business relationship on some level. Unless it isn't a business relationship. Most providers are actually really nice people, they respond to friendly outreach like most humans do. How they treat you as a client is based on how they think clients should be treated; people get confused between the difference between a friend and an acquaintance.

Never become the friend, let them know you think they are "hot", "sexy" etc and not their buddy. Friends don't get further than an HE, because the girl will say "but you and me not like that".
