Yes this is a slippery slope and could result in providers becoming overly cautious if they find themselves compromised. On the flip side there is a trick to detecting night vision cameras in a dark massage studio with your phone. On my Iphone 6 the screen side camera does not have an IR filter. Aim it at what you suspect is a camera and a bright light will appear on the screen. I was motivated to do the research because of the case in Florida. You can practice with your Ring indoor cameras.
