So I tried to make an appointment and when I got to the location I was met by another gate, this one much less metaphorical in nature and much more of the steel variety.

It was a super embarrassing situation made more unnerving with all the cameras in the community. I tried calling the agency and was ignored and sent them a text to let them know "WTF" and had a line of incoming residents waiting to get to their homes. I think one of them must have remotely buzzed me in to save me from the fate of being that lost clown who clearly doesn't belong and is now holding up traffic. I made my way inside but at this point all I want to do is hit eject and be propelled from my vehicle. I was told prior to arriving to park in a designated parking spot, which again, I just assume is the normal routine of using a more esteemed escort agency. But as my shit luck would have it. When I got to the spot is was taken by some douchebag who was parked diagonally in a way that it takes up not only the space it's designed to fill but also the space adjacent to it. Fuck those guys who park like assholes. So I text the agency to let them know of this mishap. And then I'm told to go find visitor parking. No. At this point I abandoned hope and aborted the mission.

My experience is the opposite of yours in that most of my experience is with agencies and I'm a novice when it comes to crapshoots. What happened to you happens to me all the time when it comes to parking. Half the time the code the agencies gives doesn't work and / or visitor parking is hard to come by. I don't know how the set up is at BAL, but at other agencies, when I see another car behind me, I just move and circle behind them and follow them right in. Though a lot of times, I am very lucky and I literally get there as the gate is either still open or as a car is just entering, so I just drive in. After entering, I'll drive in a roundabout way to another location and after a little while proceed to the actual location. As for visitor parking, if I can't find any, I'll try and park in an area that isn't too full, even if I have to walk for a bit. At one location, I was parking in non visitor areas for about 2 years and never had any trouble. Of course, now I'm a little more paranoid so I try and park in visitor areas if I can.
