Sadly, I agree. It's over (a place like Follies, with all its cash / hidden business, isn't a gold mine for the city, just the owners, and that's all that matters). We've seen the last golden days of adult businesses; from now on, it will be just holding on or trying to survive in niche businesses / locations (with the events of the past few days, any case in federal court is now guaranteed to end up being against the Follies of the world).

Follies will re-open at some point. These legal wranglings can take some time to work themselves out in the courts. The wheel of justice spin slowly, but turn exceedingly fine as the old saying goes.

Like I already said, you can't just shut down a gold mine and strip club mecca like Follies. That would be like shutting down Disney World and Central Park. It does not compute.

Oh, I have no special love for Follies. I never liked the table service there (which was non-existent), or the smoky environment, or in later years the stench of weed. It was just the easiest place in town to stop in for a quick suck and fuck, or to shop for pretty, spinnerific fuck buddies.

The only other Cheetah I remember was the Cheetah Elite, downtown on Baker Street (where Goosebumps opened later). I was a pretty sleepy club during the day time; I used to go there to play chess with the deejay when I was in grad school at Tech (I'd hit up the free buffet and we'd set up a chess board on a table out in the club, he'd have to get up occasionally to go to the deejay booth to change CDs or announce. Girls would stop by to watch us play. I mean, when I say sleepy club, I mean SLEEPY!) That's where I learned that the secret to scoring stripper pussy like a Pez dispenser is to NOT be a customer.

I've followed your posts for years oz. I'm a true fan of your teachings. I came at this from a slightly different angle. We were at tech at the same time. I had become a depressed sometimes self medicated alchy. I didn't drink often, but when I did, I was over the edge drunk. I could get ugly. One afternoon, I was at the gold rush. I wasn't too drunk, thankfully. I ended up hooking up with a dancer from there. She said I was mysterious. I've been called many things, but never mysterious before or after. She once told me that if guys would drink less they would get laid more. She even said she was open to free sex with a non drunk who wasn't a dick, and she was a good looking chick. It was like the light bulb went off in my head. I've used that since, to keep myself under control. Also, I don't go out an make it rain. Girls may think guys like a challenge, there are plenty of strippers that will go after a challenge. I've also found it is easier to get dancers to jump in the boat when you are there by yourself. The group vibe has guys trying to play more games with each other. That makes the dancers only think about getting the money. I've never understood why the older I have gotten, the more strippers jump in the boat for free. One of life's mysteries.

Does it make sense that all other Atlanta area clubs are open except this one? How long can a club NOT gain revenue and expect to open? All employees have moved on to other clubs. And the longer the club is closed, the more likely it will remain that way.

Other clubs have closed over the years. It's now Follies turn to join them.

Trust me, you can't just shut down a gold mine like Follies. It's like Disneyland for your dick and will always be that way. Too many juicy clits that need rubbed and tasty nipples that need sucked in that place.

Shockingly, it took a good bit of effort by Sandy Springs to get Flasher's shut down. And it took a Herculean effort to shut down Mardi Gras in Sandy Springs. That place was a gold mine of the highest order and the owner had deep pockets for the lengthy court fight that it took to shut down MG. Many strip club owners are very, very smart businessmen and, if they are smart enough to own the dirt where their operation is, they crush it in ways that any other non-sex business would envy.

Good times at both of those places.

Damn I've not been living in Atlanta for almost 5 years now. Now living out in Los Angeles, but saw on my timeline a news story about Follies being closed for good so had to come back to this part of the forum. I guess it it's the end of an era. Follies was definitely the best bang for you buck for a number of years. For most of my many years living in Atlanta I lived pretty close to Follies although in the last 2-3 years of my living in Atlanta I slacked up going in since it was just too crowded. I guess it got too popular for it's own good which brought with it the crowds and more unsavory types. I still remember when I first started going back in 2005 when it was still very mixed, but was the go to spot for anyone wanting Latinas which is really my thing LOL. I'm not up on the Atlanta strip club scene these days, but hopefully you guys have another good replacement. Just this time hopefully it can stay a bit more lowkey.
