Posts: 13634Couldn't agree more. Get a deranged person behind a gun and all hell can break loose. As for those "one pop" guns, sounds like an updated version of a zip gun.

I actually hate how things are in the UK, I'm terrified of being stabbed up. "shanked" as they call it out there. The type of violet crimes they have are heinous and nasty. There are also people who make guns from scratch in the UK, called a "one pop. ".
Furthermore, good convo and thanks for your service to this great country.

Posts: 307I'm far from a radical leftist -- in fact I'm a retired Air Force officer, but let me offer another perspective of the issue.

And yes, they also have crazies running around, but due to the lack of readily available guns, they generally attack with knives, sometimes wounding one or two people before they are subdued. Here on the other hand, a deranged person can easily kill a dozen or more people in a matter of seconds. As their acts are generally erratic at best, there is no way to tell where the next one will strike. I do no wish for me or my family to in the next mass shooting.
The Second Amendment supporters will tell you loud and clear that it says." The right to keep and bear arms. " while completely ignoring the first part about ". A well-regulated militia. " We have a well-regulated militia in the Reserves and the National Guard. You are free to join them.
That being said, I have an alternative plan that protects your right to own as many guns as you want, while increasing the safety of the public. We need to have every legal gun in this country registered my its owner who will then become responsible for its security and care. Anyone then found with an unregistered gun, whether in the process of committing a crime or not will have the gun confiscated and destroyed. If in fact the gun was being used in a crime, the punishments must be severe. Severe enough to seriously make one think twice before using one. This will take some time to percolate through society but the end result is well worth the effort.
The Second Amendment never envisioned weapons that could expend hundreds of rounds a minute. It was poorly written in the first place. It is long past time for revision.
I hope that happens before a member of my family, or yours, is needlessly killed by a person wielding a weapon that has no legitimate place in a peaceful society.

Save our guns!
Yes. Most of the people riding gung-ho and towing their party lines are ignoring and important issue.
Protect our second amendment rights!
Joe Biden and Kamal Harris want the repeal the 2nd amendment and take legal guns from the hands of benevolent law-abiding citizens.
Firearms are NOT to blame, we do NOT need gun control. WE NEED PEOPLE CONTROL / PSYCHO CONTROL.
Bad guys will ALWAYS have access to firearms. It is important that GOOD guys have guns to defend themselves and equal the playing field.
This is one of the major topics NO ONE in this thread is discussing.
I am not a member of the NRA BTW. But I know the importance of gun ownership. I carry on a daily basis, and need protection when I'm out mongering.
Come on radical leftists, what are your views on this subject?
Say what you want about Donald, but he doesn't want to alter the constitution. The founding fathers put gun ownership to combat tyranny, and keep power in the hands of the people.
WE THE PEOPLE.

Actually, protocol says, any former elected official can and should be called by their highest position for the rest of their life, similar for retired military. They go by the rank they retired at. So you will hear reported interviewing former Presidents and call them Mr. President. I remember a reporter asking Sell Miller whether he wanted to be called Governor or Senator because one is not necessarily higher than the other.

Bernie Sanders should have been the democratic nominee. He was blackballed by the media because he's too far left and they felt he had no chance of betting Trump. This documentary is a little long but it's very interesting.

Posts: 307I understand your thought here, but the protocol is that there is only one VP at a time, so all the others should be called "former VP. " Conversely, there are lots of Senators (100 to be exact) and therefore it doesn't cause any confusion to drop the "former" from a former Senator's title.

Posts: 65Joe "you know the thing" Biden was VP for 8 years, so that Trump's (pun intended) Senator. He should be called VP.
