I would say stand firm. You seem to be much more generous than I would have been. If she saw you on a regular basis over an extended period of quality time then I can see the willingness to be generous. But based upon your story, she has a track record of not being so consistent. All of these arrangements are just that, arrangements and it would not surprise me if they try to take advantage of every opportunity you give them.
