Easier said than done at times, I'll have to admit. Once you've gone to the trouble of setting up an appointment and getting there, especially given the difficulty of actually setting anything up with most providers anymore without them nodding off or flaking in some way, it's hard to just walk away without doing anything.

I doubt the enabling factor plays much role. There's always been a tendency for guys here to accept too little for too much. But I do wonder why the talent pool has gone so far downhill.
