I don't have a dog in this fight, but the OP did not say he has made 40 K posts on hobby sites exclusively, just on various other sites of any type. He then alluded to that in his follow up reply.

Having said that, I agree that one should search first before asking about a provider in the forum. That will give you information from people who have actually seen that provider, and if you want more info you can always PM those posters before you make a request in the forum. Just asking about someone who has many reports makes you seem lazy to long time members, even if you are not.
