For those of you, like me with a significant other, what kind of excuse / reasoning do you give in order to get out of the house for the time it takes (plus drive time) for a QV, HH or HR? For example, in the past I've used "garage sales" on a weekend morning to give me that time I needed. Since garage sales have recently been non-existent (never mind trying to use that excuse in winter or rainy days) as well as being told to "stop buying junk" I don't have a good reason to be away for long periods of time. The garage sale excuse worked well because I would still hit up garage sales to bring something home as proof I was doing what I said.

If you have a professional-type job, join societies or meetups related to that. I belong to two professional groups and a handful of meetups related to work. I actually go, meet people, have fun, advance my career, hit the bar after (and get out of the house). There are also mini-conferences and seminars, often on the weekends. Then when it's time to hobby, I just set up to coincide with one of those. Easy excuse to disappear for 2-3 hours in the evening or all day weekends.

You can also do the same with certain non-hobby hobbies. Join a maker space, woodworking guild / club etc.

Just actually DO those things when not playing. You will enjoy it, make new friends, and firm up your cover.

Go to a library, check out a book that you would actually like and read it. Since she doesn't like you to bring home junk, you're just checking it out and then giving it back after done.
