I've wondered if STG doesn't post those ads automatically, when real local ads slow down. There could even be an algorithm. It makes it look like there's plenty of offerings and keeps interest up, even if it's all for naught. Maybe it's coincidence, but it seems to me the fake ads have increased as the local ads have decreased during the covid era.

Not only that but a lot of them ask for a deposit up front. Which whether it is someone at STG or an independent scammer it makes you wonder how many people are falling for that.

Does anyone else try to report the fake ads on STG? It seems like they've exploded in number the past few weeks.

It doesn't do any good. I feel like the ads probably come from someone at the site because the ads are pretty obvious and they won't do anything to fight them. I guess it helps traffic and makes it look like business is booming. They are sophisticated and very confident that you can't do anything about it. I've fought with them before but there are just too many and it seems like some kind of fake ad operation. The worst is when you go to an area you are not familiar with, then it makes it almost impossible to find someone who is real. Maybe that is their intent, I don't know.
