Do you stay in Bangkok, or bus ride perhaps to Pattaya?

I generally prefer Bangkok, because other than great food and hores, Pattaya has very little else of interest. But for sheer numbers of hores, Pattaya is the place to go. There have been estimates of over 250,000 out on the streets centered around Walking Street, on any particular evening. If you take the 2 hour bus ride to Pattaya, though, I recommend the little Jasmin Hotel right off Walking Street, clean, with decent air-con, for about 20 bucks a night. And be sure to take an AIR-CON bus, unless you want to spend two hours in a bus at over 100 degrees. Don't go to Pattaya for the beach, though. Go for the hores, only. And the great street food if you like real Issan Thai. But the beach is filthy and full of gargage and trash, and almost nobody goes in the water or lays on the beach. Hores can be picked up anywhere any time of day, though, so you don't need the beach.

I've gotten roundtrips in the last few years on the Chinese carriers with only a 4 to 6 hour stop in Beijing or Shanghai, for under 600, so about 24 hours total trip time. I've taken nonstops from New York to Bangkok when Royal Thai Airways had those for about 900, but they discontinued those several years ago. Unfortunately, most of the shorter flights appear to have been discontinued during this virus insanity.
