Your inclination are close. Google Voice cannot be traced in the typical sense of displaying your name akin to a listed phone number. BUT, because of the Google account, assuming you use your real name and info, it can be traced on a warrant. Though I stress the issue of using your real name. Many people, including myself, have many Google accounts. If you use a real name as the main email addy or number as your backup contact, then you're hanging yourself if a warrant is required. But overall, unless you seriously commit a felonious crime, a warrant isn't, ehem, warranted.
