Trying to come up with a universal tipping standard is pointless. What may true for one place and girl may not be true for another.

My econ take on this is that everyone just simply needs to pay what they feel is right and fair for the service they received and stop trying to convert others to their opinion, especially the silly idea that now they can try to pay less and get more, just because of the times we are going through.
