I actually got robbed once by a provider. Wasn't much, couple hundred bucks. It was the whole "BF walks in" nonsense. I told them I knew what it was and to keep the money, since they obviously needed it more than I did. I didn't lose any sleep over it, it's just money after all. The presence of a gun would have made things 100 times worse. What happens if you end up needing to use it? Then the police are definitely involved and a few hundred dollars private issue ends up becoming a much bigger issue, let alone a much more public one. At that point, I'd be praying to pay several thousand to make it go away.

I mainly agree if it is a robbery situation I would just give up the money and get out of the situation as fast as I could. However, if the perps think that they are going to extort money from me long term and threaten to ruin my life they will have a big problem. In most cases these dirt bags are cowards and can not handle a threat to themselves, they usually fold and run. I also agree using any means of identifing you is not a smart idea. Unless you know a provider and even then it is not necessary safe inviting them to your home is not a good idea!! Never use your real name. That said I just hope those that read this thread will take heed and be carefull in the future.
