When comparing Asian and Latina crapshoot places, it seems to me the Asian ones are usually better managed. With the Latina places, the person booking appts is usually chosen for their English-speaking skills more than anything else. And, no matter what their management abilities, or lack thereof, their main job is to keep the clients flowing and maximize the amount of cash coming in. That means during the busier times there will almost certainly be scheduling issues.

One suggestion to (hopefully) avoid those is to call during the slower times or call when you know you can be there within 15-30 minutes. It's a crapshoot (pun intended) if you try to schedule hours or days in advance. It's counter-intuitive, because many clients think that should be easier for them, but their mindset is "first come, first served" so advance scheduling puts you at risk of somebody cutting in line.

It also never hurts to sweet talk the scheduler, who is almost always female. Referring to her as "mi amor" or "mi vida" or "corazon" may help her to remember you favorably. Could help, couldn't hurt. And getting the personal digits of any "gem" you discover is always a good idea and might help you get appts when you'd otherwise miss out.

If you haven't already, do a forum search for "crapshoot" to see all the prior discussions.

In a nutshell, they're not worth it as a "Plan A" for the reasons you mentioned, and several others that have been discussed previously. And scheduling a full hour is a waste of money since, as you noted, you're out the door as soon as you pop.

But they have their uses as a "Plan B" and you can occasionally find a diamond in the rough. Do the search for more info on those situations and how best to stack the odds in your favor.
