Generally there are 4 copies of a text or an email; 1 on the sending device, 1 on the server the sender connects to, 1 on the destination server, and then 1 on the recipients device.

Burn phones aren't a bad idea; paying with cash or other untraceable funds is better, purchasing out of state makes subpoenas a little more difficult.

Google voice setup with a bogus profile on top of a burner is even better.

Yes, LEO can and has subpoenas records for texting apps. There is NO way to ever delete anything 100% on the internet as you all know. The only way to truly avoid issues is to use a burner phone that you pay cash for and reload with cash. Now, they could figure out using store security cameras who the person is reloading the phone, but I highly doubt they would do that for monger related charges. Capital crime would be a different story.

I use google voice for my texting and telephone app. When they sent their privacy policy I made it a point to read parts. In a nutshell, they will comply with a court ordered subpoena and they can dig up all your old texts. But for you wife to go looking through your phone she can't find deleted items.

Some guys pay cash for a debit card and then buy a burner. I have thought about doing that but a bit of a hassle.

This happened a couple of summers ago. The little head was in complete control, I was headed over to South Milwaukee to see a well known and reviewed provider (no names to protect the innocent) around mid night.
