My Reasons / Excuses:

1. I live with my helicopter parents who try to track my location 24/7 (but I try to get around that).

2. I know every undergraduate girl in my department. There's more female professors in the department than students.

Money. Sex. Love. It's all overrated.

We're human. We long for a connection and we have active imaginations. Our reality will never meet or come close to our fantasies. And the struggle of work and life stresses make everything all that much harder. We can have it all and still never be happy.

The hardest part of this and yes, even I'm guilty of this, is trying to separate this hobby as something more than what it must be. An escape. Escape from work stress, social convictions, and marital issues.

Love isn't here. It's a 30 min to an hour episode of lust. And despite your degree in engineering you can't manufacture love in this hobby, you can't experience that passionate sex. Like a calculus bar graph you can get awfully close to infinity but you'll NEVER reach it. But life is short and you only live once so try to enjoy it, learn to settle for the mediocrity, just enough to feed the beast.

Youth is certainly wasted on the young. So my friend you got to enjoy life now because the dark truth is it doesn't get better. No amount of money, sex, and whatever other vice you might fall prey to won't help you. Only you can. You have to change the mentality. As stated before you won't find a 10/10 experience but communicating with the board and tossing your coin to the brotherhood can get you pretty close to an experience as long as you learn to subvert your expectations.

Read this book: Models by Mark Manson. It'll change the way you view how you fit into the world with other people, and it may change your life.
