If your an out of towner I wouldn't even bother with the SD scene anymore. I would take the 15-20 min drive and head to Tijuana. There's too many risks with the sites that are up now and a lot of the girls are not reputable. Others might disagree but just my take. Moe.

Normal, not common but normal. They are trying to establish a few different things. They want to see how disgusting you are, what ethnicity you are and who to expect at the door. It's for their own protection and they probably had a bad experience recently or got advice from a fellow provider.

I've done this before! Not so much recently but if I know a provider is reputable and that is their procedure it puts them at ease. I get it. I wouldn't do this with any girl in any ad you come across though. Moe.

Some independents will ask for you to send them a picture of yourself so they know who to expect at their door.

I have never done this, and don't think I would ever send my picture to an escort.
