I really can't figure out the business plan of this new batch of W Tropicana entrepreneurs. It's not at all clear to me how some of them are expecting to get picked up, and when I'm not too sure what a horse is gonna do, I'm usually not in a big hurry to go to the window to bet him.
This article in the June 8th issue of Las Vegas Weekly made a few passing references to Trop. Much of it left me scratching my head wondering what in the fork this guy is talking about or how badly he must have misunderstood and mangled what information he may have had, so I really don't want to vouch for the overall accuracy of this piece, but some of it is on point, so here it is, free of charge, but still up to you to decide what parts might be worth what you paid for it:

It's at the motel-heavy Tropicana and Valley View zone that Shannon is noticing a different type of prostitute. Some pimps are having their prettiest girls work the streets and encouraging them to seek out customers and not wait to be chosen. BTW, I think it's amusing that the author of the article has apparently managed to remain blissfully unaware that his job and his employer's existence is dependent on the marketing of commercial sex services. The free weekly rags exist as a vehicle for collecting ad revenue from "hot young nymphos waiting to come to you now just dial 1-900-BABE" and such like. The editorial content is generally a trivial afterthought to both the publisher and most "readers" alike.

I'm typically in Vegas between Thursdays and Mondays, so maybe I'm missing some higher quality downtown girls who are caught up in sweeps (as one poster recently mentioned) but I sure haven't seen anything as hot downtown as I saw on Trop on my last visit. I'll be back again this weekend and am happy to hear the action on Trop is still going strong - even though there are signs of an imminent crackdown.

Hot Trop
Saw all the recent posts about how hot Trop was, and decided to go on a recon mission of my own.
Wow. I have been cruising Vegas for 5 years and have never seen that kind of action. I sat in the Burger King parking lot for one hour last night (10pm to 11pm) and saw at least 12 different girls. Not one was over 25, and most were 20 or younger. Lot's of light skinned BSWs, two HSW, and two WSW. All had great bodies and looked clean and sober. And, some of the hottest ones were not picked up at all during the whole hour! You would never see that in downtown area. A reasonable looking girl is snatched in 15 seconds flat.
I finally flagged down a HSW that had seen me park at BK about an hour earlier, and had made eye contact with me on several passes down the street. I said, "not much luck tonight, eh." She said, no, really slow -- it sucks. I told her I was not up for any action, but told her I thought she was very pretty and couldn't believe she hadn't been snatched up. She laughed and gave me a kiss on the cheek, and told me to come back when I was in the mood for more.
LE: There was one marked car and one unmarked car making the circuit from the 15 up to Airville and back. But, if you're careful and get into a parking lot or side street, I think you'd be OK.
So, that's my report from the field, gentlemen. Those were some quality ladies down there. Be safe and treat the girls nice and hopefully this lasts a while. I have grown real tired of how shitty the old strolls are.
One question in parting -- Is there an hourly motel anywhere near that Trop/Airville area? I have a good spot downtown, but one of the reasons I didn't make a move last night was because I didn't know where I would go. I've never played in the strip area.

Yep, saw the same thing, and as a matter of fact saw it Monday as well about 3pm (I got off work a little early) but there were three cars and one wagon.

Was on Trop at around 3 this afternoon. A rather hot brunette WSW was being cuffed by, get this, 5 cop cars at the bus stop in front of the Suites (directly across the street from Burger King). Something didn’t look right, so as bad as the traffic was I managed to pull into the Terrible’s parking lot to observe what was happening. Unfortunately, I only got the tail end of it, but two of the cop cars were spinning around the parking lot at the Suites looking for someone as the other three were questioning the poor girl in tears. They shoved the girl in the car and drove away. Needless to say Trop was rather dead (SW activity) on this pass. I’ve seen a lot of busts on Trop over the years, but 5 cop cars to detain 1 SW? That’s a new one. Did anybody else see this? There were at least a hundred cars passing by at any given time, I’m sure somebody can report on what was happening.
It seems that a good thing is abruptly coming to an end.

And if Harrahs doesn't fill for the weekend, there are usually discount rooms via expedia for a day or two maybe a week ahead. The bridges by NYNY & MGM and the stroll from Harrahs to BC is the discount hos. Those are the ones you will get for $200 late at night. Some are really good looking anyway, if pretty skanky. Tropicanna Ground Surveillance
I'm a Downtown, Fleamont, and Boulder kinda guy who refuses to get near the strip except an occasional Sunday drinking sojourn to the West side of town. Even then I bypass the strip by taking the DI arterial. I really prefer downtown because you can park and walk.
There's such ado about Trop I decided to break my own rules and see for myself. I waited untill 7 pm thinking I would miss the rush hour traffic. That was a correct call until I got over the I 15 bridge, then total gridlock. I ended up pulling into the Wild West parking lot and walked West to Arville. A bus had just stopped at the corner of Industrial. That same bus finally passed me on foot at the corner of Valley View. That's how fucked up the traffic was at 7:30pm and that's exactly why I never get near the strip. As I got to the underpass, I saw the problem: they're working on the sewer line.
I was glad the traffic conditions dictated I do a reconnaisance on foot. It would be foolheardy to attempt one mounted unless you have a driver. You get a better feel for the lay of the land and a great opportunity for observation of the activity. And there was indeed, plenty of activity, eight targets on my first sortie. None of them as young and ravashing as some would have you believe. But certainly younger and better looking than the Fleamont Street crack hoes I'm accoustomed to. I'd guess all of them in their twenties.
My first stop on the return was Ocean's 11 bar. I thought this might be a convenient "can I use dah baffroom?" or "gimme a glass a waddah" kinda place. No such luck. Just three limo drivers having an after work toddie or, more likely, an on their way to work pick me up.
Next stop the "Stop and Rob". Saw a couple of pimps playing the slots. One of their charges made a pit stop to drop off her tribute. She wanted to stay and play for a while but big daddy would have none of this. He's was gentille enough to give her five for a soda and sent her back to work.
Burger King is next. This is a great observation post. Unobstructed fields of fire from the I 15 overpass to the railroad underpass. And I'm not the only one who's concluded this. Another pimp is here supervising his charge(s) from afar, complete with the latest radio/telecommunications equipment. I get a coke (Coca-Cola) and sit ringside. What a show! Four girls working nearby, two on each side of the street. Pimps hanging from the balconies of the Budget Suites (just like they do from the Sunflower at 15th and Fremont).
A pickup pulls into the Burger King lot and parks right in front facing Trop. A six month pregnant, either mulado or mexican, hops in. Ten minutes later she hops out and heads for the Stop and Rob. A cute black one is at the bus stop across the street in front of the Mexican drive by. Some black dude engages her in conversation. After a few minutes, Big Daddy Pimp gets on his star wars talking device and very loudly asks her "wach ya doin ragging wit dat ....... get yo black ass back to work". With that, I continued my patrol East.
Wild West: Two with pimps at the bar. One knockout Crazy Horse quality girl with an older gentleman in the lounge area. Both of them totally out of place in this joint. It's now close to 9pm and I decide to remount. Traffic is still bad and I discover you can use the parking lots all the way from Industrial to Valley View without getting on Trop. A good E & E route. I circled the zone a few times and by now all the activity was gone. I'll return for a 4 AM patrol.
Conclusions: A target rich enviornment and as Wastrel speculates, well supervised with Kalifornian licensed Cadillacs. I, like 10safeOsory, was on a clandestine surveillance mission and did not talk with any of them. I'll save that for my next patrol. As far as a sweep is concerned, I'm changing my speculation about Metro's methodology. The terrain is not conducive to a Fremont Street style assault. Traffic is already way too fucked up. That would really get the wrath of casino mogul's wives. This calls for a massive bike patrol roundup backed up with several CCDC busses to transport them back to the Kalifornia border (no strain on the local system). Or better yet, have those vice detectives earn their keep for a change and quietly bust all those pimps on some loitering charges. Then again, that's too easy and may violate someone's civil rights?

YEA BUT...
I was playing at Harrah's and around 1:30-2:15am all the skanky looking ones were rolling in looking for Mr. Franklin. If I was the casino I would keep the ugly looking ones out. Mostly what I saw walking into Harrah's was 2-3.5ish. (cheapening the casino more than gamblers, like myself, would like to see)
If they are nice looking and dressed cleanly then I would suspect the casino would like them in their hotel/casino to attact men/gamblers. IMO they both need each other.

Right on Speck.... Usually if the girls are cool about it with a tip to the bartender, not much is said. I lived in Reno for 22 years and have lived here for 8, and unless the Bible crowd is up in arms, its cleanup time before elections, or businesses are really complaining loudly, its business as usual. Used to be that in the earlier days (as in 15-20 yrs ago) you could get propositioned on the street even if you had a lady with you, hell, once many years ago the lady I was with and I both got hit on.
The only thing most of the casinos really don't want is when they take somebody out of the casino instead of go upstairs to the room. The casinos see the dollars possibly leaving and not returning for a few hours or even for a night. It's competition for the almighty dollar at its finest. They might also say something if a CG hits on a high roller and tries to get him to leave. THAT might really piss em off, even frown on, but a jump in the hay in one of their own suites usually doen't bother em in the least, in fact, I'm sure they expect it. Paranoid they may be, stupid they absolutely ain't. Not only what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but casinos want customers to stay and play in THEIR hotel.
Sometimes, the good old days were definitely better in some respects. Stay safe.

She did look young to me, and although the ID looked legit, with the attendant photo and state (Cali, of course), it ain't that hard to fake 'em. Casinos would not take the same chances I did.
