I think thorough paranoia is called for when it comes to protecting your privacy, and your freedom.

That seems thoroughly paranoid. I've read about this and even if they were to sift through all that data they would still need to get a warrant for a specific number to read the text messages unless the number is associated with an ongoing case which is unlikely.

Also, when you initially inquire via text, if you just ask questions and don't offer any money they don't have anything on you. So if you just inquire about menu options and the response states what's available for what price it's unlikely to be law enforcement since that would be entrapment.

Just don't explicitly offer money when you make initial contact and you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Seems to me she was mentioned on this link a year or so ago as being amenable to the subject of this discussion. Can anyone confirm? Does it need to be discussed in person? Goes silent with texts when the subject is mentioned.

From what little I've found, while LE do have some leniency to monitor texts, for them to be admissible they must either have a warrant or the cell most be associated with an ongoing investigation. Since there are at least several million cell phones in the vicinity of any major city, LE must decide how to allocate their resources.

Most stings I've read about either involve the streets or large, organized operations with many providers. For LE to use text as a means to target individual providers and / or hobbyists is probably not worth it, or at least that's been my experience. Again, I'd love someone with a legal background to offer a more informed perspective.

You, sir, have been lucky so far. If you don't want your name in the paper you need to tighten up your game. As others have said, a subpoena for text records is something your uncle does every day. It's a routine form and all that is required is that there be probable cause to believe you've done whatever. The cops don't even have to do it, they have admin staff whose only job are routine paperwork like this.

A- use a burner you paid cash for. Buy the Sim card at a different location.

B- Keep the burner off when not is use and don't ever turn it on at home. Location data is stored by cell companies for a period of time as well.

C- Even with a burner, maintain plausible deniability by never discussing details (meaning anything transactional) in text.

D- I won't even take the burner with me to a meet. If she isn't there on time, so be it. No pussy is worth a record.

What some guys like FastBreak don't get is that phones are a way to track you 24/7 and record what you say for evidence in court and that is precisely how LEO uses them. You need to develop strategies that keep your activity from being provably tied to you otherwise it's not a matter of 'if' you get caught up in legal drama it's a matter of 'when.'

In legal terms it's probably safer to settle on the details (including price) via text before meeting in person.

All carriers stores text messages for a period of time. IIRC it's close to a year. Text messages are sent in plain text and LEO can simply subpoena them from the carriers. Wish providers would use something like Telegram. And always use a burner phone.
