One last comment. If I run into housekeeping, I'll often ask for an extra shampoo, then tip them $2 as they hand it to me. They won't give your presence a second thought.

The best thing to do in that situation is not answer their question. Don't ever answer questions the police ask you. EVER. Just tell them you don't answer questions or just don't say anything at all.
