I'll position it to only cover my crack with a corner of the drape, I'll leave it folded on the small of my back or on the end of the table. Usually I ask when first setting up the appointment "What is your draping policy?" Usually it's fully draped but you'll find some that say whatever you're comfortable with. My understanding is the law only requires them to offer you a cover.
