To each his own, but I've never negotiated a rate with a provider on the presumption that if she and I were to agree to $220 for services that regularly cost $260, I wouldn't get her best efforts. I have told a provider that I couldn't afford an increase in rates and, luckily, I was grandfathered in.

My advice would be to ask the providers if they would be willing to negotiate a qv rate and bring up a number that is 75% of their hhr rate or 40% of their hourly rate. Many providers won't do that short because it takes prep time and just isn't worth it.
