I highly doubt you could argue age of consent when money is exchanged. I doubt a jury would believe consent is possible when you are paying her. You definitely did the right thing. If she wasnt LEO, I hope she opens her eyes before someone less ethical gets ahold of her.

I think most likely SA completely wiped the records. A 16 year old cannot be bound to a contract (terms of use) so SA would have a basis to wipe the account especially in the days of FOSTA. Basically, she should have never been on the site. If it were Uncle Louise trying a dragnet, most likely would just set up an account and it would show as deleted. Unless they were getting cooperation from SA.

I'm curious if she blocked you if the old messages still appear, maybe she blocked you to keep from being reported. I think it's a good idea not to share her tag, though you might be able to see if she just blocked you by making another account and looking for her.

We'll, you definitely did the right thing. Legally and morally. As soon as I think someone on any on-line or in-person situation is less than 18, I immediately stop all contact and block their profile and / or phone number. I actually prefer 21 as my minimum. At least I can have a drink with her and not expose myself to some bs charge. So even if your encounter involved LE, you did all you could be expected to do. You encountered a minor who lied about her age on a dating website, and as soon as you found out her age, you stopped all contact. I never, ever, ever give my last name to a SB no matter how long I've seen her or how well it seems to be going. If they need more verification to screen me, I move on. I've missed out on many smoking hot sugar babies with this approach, but I'm not willing to take the risk for so long as I have minor children at home. I bumped into a SB at Home Depot one time back when I lived in a different area of Metro Atlanta. She gave a knowing look but said nothing, thank goodness. One of my kids was with me, which probably caused her to pause, or maybe she was just cool. In any event, I learned my lesson and now I don't monger in the area where I live, only near where I work. I work far from where I live, so it works well.
I would suggest mongering at a distance of no less than 50 miles away from where you live or work. People travel. And its FAR too easy to run into someone you "know" by accident, and then the awkward looks / silence / questions. It may not be ideal and it may limit your options, but far safer if you are married. If you are single, then it's a safety thing, but married people have more issues to be mindful of.
I would also suggest investing in a good fake ID (your look, same first name, but fictitious last name/address) and use that around them (if needed).. Its work, but you want to build up as much of a firewall as you can between yourself and them. (be mindful of the CC's you use around them, and other identifying details such as cell phone content).
