I actually prefer those, but I'm picky about first visits. Some things that have helped me:
- Google Street View is your friend (for any first visit, regardless of location). Also, Google the address for police activity.
- Only providers with either reviews, references, or a posting history, no fake or stolen pictures without other references. Google and Google image search are again your friend.
- Have a plausible story ready on why you might be in the neighborhood.
- Be picky. If it seems sketchy, move on sooner rather than later.
- Never sit in a parked car anywhere but a crowded retail or fast food lot. Sitting there texting, driving slowly, multiple passes, no good. This means exponentially more in a residential neighborhood.
