Every site from Listcrawler to CityxGuide to Skipthegames are just filled to the brim with obviously fake ads. What is the deal? What do people get out of posting them? The sites should really start cracking down on it. It's hard to even spot the legit ones now because they blend in with them.

After CL shut down their Adult Services section (I think in 2010? Regular ad sections became overrun with scam ads. They had to go somewhere after CL completely shut down. Your contact info is obviously worth something to those running the ads.

It's a means to collect phone numbers and email addresses to sell to those places that help with college loans, car warranty, lower your credit card rate, "free" vacations, etc.

Are they college age kids just pulling pranks, or some guys or gals with no life that get off on guys responding to their fake ads? Backpage back in the day seemed about 80% fake. I miss the Tier website which was probably most credible site around.
