Just got back from a trip to Vegas.

I totally agree with your approach. It not only works in Vegas but also in other locations. Day shift strippers are the best! Some of the best SBs I ever had were on the day shift. Most of these girls don't view themselves as escorts so if you jump straight to the money / menu they get offended and either don't reply or quote high with the hope you will either say yes and they will get their top dollar or you will go away. Try and be nice and funny at first, show a little personality. They will lower their guards a bit once they think you are possibly a decent guy with money. Once the money comes up, if they go high say "wow that's more than I was expecting, most quotes are in the $200-$250 range. " If they don't budge or don't come down low enough, on to the next. In one month, I've seen 4 girls and donation ranged from $100-300. I have two others lined up for next week, both in the $200 range. I've talked with many others and some are still out of my preferred range so I move on.

Also, don't let on that it's a one time thing (even though let's be honest. It is), pretend you are really interested in finding the right SB. If they ask for an allowance or an on-going thing, say "I always do ppm on first meeting to make sure we're compatible, then we can discuss allowance for future visits" (spoiler. Not sure what kind of girls you are focusing on but what you describe has not been my experience on SA. Sure, the girls you describe are out there and often keywords in their profile will indicate as much.
