You make 2 great points which I left out of my original post. I always make sure to drink before so I can pee a a lot after. Urine itself is a great anti-bacterial.

As for gums, I had read somewhere not to go down on a girl or have any other intimate contact soon after brushing or flossing because there is a good chance that there will be some bleeding.

I generally floss and brush about 3-4 hours before, and then use mouthwash and mints until I meet the girl.
