I used to think letting them make the first offer was a smart move. I now realize that they are not stupid and lead high so they don't negotiate against themselves. I now use a different approach and follow the take it or leave it attitude of many of you. Life is too short.

I also thought it would be fun to try to think back and list my various babies. It wasn't. The number got way too high way too quickly. Though I can also see a definite increase in quality / decrease in quantity trend.

"I currently live in Fairfax, Virginia. I'm a college student at American University" Yeah, no. AU is not a commuter school, especially not for someone in fairfax that could be stuck an hour or more each way getting to and from classes. If her parents can afford AU tuition, they can afford for her to live on campus.
