I was literally able to log on using one phone today and not at all on another line. Weird.

It's on 2 IP addresses, so 2 servers, that might explain some inconsistency. Which one you connect to is dependent on a bunch of things that are partly unknowable. And last night when it was down hard, it was on one IP address, which was different from the 2 it's on today.

I'm not saying you didn't see it, but I'm still having the same responses I noted here {LINK} in General Reports #5874 and #5875. Actually, I hope it comes back up. It just seems so unlikely.

I'd love to be wrong. But usually when a site wants only https: connections, it redirects http: requests to itself over https:. The sites that live on the servers being accessed have no https: at all, and http: is displaying totally unrelated content. And if the site has server issues, they'll typically redirect to a "under Maintenance" page or some such.
