#2 - it is not possible to achieve enough collaboration to affect prices. This idea has been floated every time a group of mongers get together somewhere on the internet. (seen this happen way too many times over the last 17 years). The market will determine the prices.

#3 - no amount of begging, cajoling, and presentation of 'facts' and observations is going to change #2.

The total market controls prices overall, not individual mongers. If demand is through the roof, then prices stay high as the providers can get higher prices due to so many wanting services. If people stop using the services, then suppliers may lower their prices to attract possible business. Demand could also be quite different by location.
