Milwaukee is huge compared to Madison. But, man, Madison has pushed prostitution off the streets. There were two major strolls in Mad City, Badger Rd and North. Actually, in days of yore, the Main-King area was a HUGE stroll, but that's all tony bars and high end restaurants now. Shit, I guess you can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Anyway, it's been a good six years that SWs virtually disappeared off Madison streets. The days of hookers hanging around trying to look like they were walking to the convenience but not really walking to the convenience store (or waiting for the bus, or whatever conspicuous hookers do when they're trying to look inconspicuous) are gone.

Could Milwaukee ever accomplish the same thing? Those of you who have read my tired old postings know that I've lamented the diminishment of the Northside strolls that have now been reduced to just about five blocks along Lisbon. I used to cruise to Miltown, get off I94 at 35th, cruise Wisconsin for any quickies, then head up to Lisbon, down to 27th. Up 27th for any stragglers, then right on North. Always a good selection on North, then up MLK to Capitol. Capitol down to Teutonia (pronounce tight on ya, as in "Those booty shorts look tight on ya. " Then right on Burleigh to 27th, and back down. A veritable smorgasbord of black coochie. Now? Meh.

Now, admittedly, that's a mighty big area to police, and Uncle LEO couldn't sweep all those areas all the time, so I really don't know what's keeping the girls off the streets. But it's a fucking desert out there compared to the cornucopia of colored coochie available in the 80's. Yes, guys, that was the time to cruise. Anything you caught could be cleared up with a 1000 units of penicillin with no fear of HIV, herpes, Hep C (or A or B), resistant strains of clap, or whatever else we subject ourselves to today. Only thing is, inflation has worked in our favor. Giving $20 in 1980 for some good ol' fashion road head is like giving $52.54 in today's money. Shit, if I'd known that, I woulda only give 'them $10 and got twice as many blowjobs. Who could have imagined hookers were going to disappear off the streets?

I'm with ya bro. The South Loops were like a fashion show in the 80's. Short skirts, high heels, midriff blouses. Short shorts and tube tops. Form fitting dresses that actually fit the form. I agree with you, but he's got a point on the quality of life issues. Whether renting or owning you don't want to see SW's hanging out, getting picked up and dropped off, drug deals going down right on the streets. The number one reason this big Enforcement campaign started last summer is the ladies wouldn't stay off the corner of 23rd and Greenfield. The Church finally had enough and screamed loud and long enough that Alderman Donovan had to do something. He and Perez pressured the Police Captains enough that they had to do something. It's no coincidence that the first MPD Street Cameras were placed on 23rd and Greenfield and 23rd and Orchard.

My own personal feeling is they know they can't take care of the problem but by periodically cracking down and forcing a shift from one neighborhood to another they placate the residents of the first neighborhood. Again, just my opinion, but backed up by a lot of experience, is that 13th and Greenfield is going to be the next heavy enforcement area. SW's, dealers and mongers alike are getting far to brazen. The smarter SW's are already sliding to 6th St, Lapham and Mitchell. If everyone would keep it more low key and further off the radar screen the heavy enforcement would go away. But when it's 8 30 AM and you have 7 SW's and 3 dealers openly doing business on 13th between Greenfield and Orchard the Alderman can't look the other way, the Police Captain can't look the other way and the street cops can't look the other way.

8:00 pm and I'm tired. Scheduled myself off today but worked 5 hours early this morning. I left at 9:30 am and headed to the Loop in the rain looking for some company. I saw one blonde in yoga pants (best invention ever) walking and wasn't sure if she was looking for company. Well, she stopped at 13 and G and I played the obvious hunch and scooped. Got Jamie's number from a fellow board member and after texting back and forth for 2 days I decided to meet up with her this morning for an incall. Big mistake. First, the incall. Thanks to the last few posters for their insight / observations. I for one find it helpful. The virtual elimination of casual dating websites has brought more shoppers to the area (and this site). The SW's I've spoken with have commented on the increase in creeps and nasty looking dudes as well. Summertime in general is when the "crazies" come out according to one lady I saw in April. Off the subject a bit, I wonder if the massive street construction on Greenfield will move east once the current project is complete. I know nothing about road and underground pipe construction but this thing has taken eternity! Many nice, dry days when nobody's working on it.

I totally agreed until you got to the part about property values. Theses area's have been shit holes for a very long time. When I was in high school 30 years ago I had a friend who lived on 10th and Burnham that had a crappy 70's Camaro. At least once a month his car would get stolen by his "neighbors" who would take it for a joy ride until the cops found it and returned it only to be taken again. The girls walk here because there's drug houses on every corner and they don't have to go far to get there fix. The cops have there show of force to keep everyone on there toe's and to show the community that there doing there job.
