I admire your experience and knowledge, Popeye. It's always good to have alternative negotiating strategies. Lord knows; most of the providers are lousy business people, so it's up to us to "make the market", either by stating what we are willing to pay for specified services or keeping our $$$ in our pockets. I am very skittish about talking $$$ before meeting. I my mind there are too many things that can go wrong. Most of the time they say "OK". If they don't ask; the conversation will come around to that subject and I'll put the offer on the table. If your objective is to get to No, why bother asking? I haven't been involved in this hobby as long as you, but these days I can't imagine finding anybody I'd actually want to rub up against willing to go 120 for an hour of GFE. I agree with you that this hobby is an incredible waste of time and money. But spending months shopping unsuccessfully for the unicorn who will say yes to a bargain basement offer and turn out not to be a disgusting, drug-addled disaster seems like an even bigger waste of time.
