Your IP appears to the whole web as if it is the IP of the VPN, which may have hundreds of users at any time.

The law firms are the one benefiting from this scam. They wanted 3 K for removal. That could be very lucrative. I'm guessing that's the business model and certainly in cahoots with the attorneys. If I recall they have law firms listed on the site. The only way they could have gotten your real name is through a disgruntled SB. There's no way for them to get your name and phone from an IP address unless they get it from your internet provider which they would need a court order to do. That's my understanding.

Yeah, think about it. If you go on the site and search for your number, they are going to hit you right back with a text saying they have your # (which they definitely do) and photo, perhaps more. My reaction is to just never go to those sites. I luckily haven't ever gotten such a message, but I have run into profiles on SA that seemed aimed only at getting my # and a real pic. I defer, saying I'd like to know them more before I share a private pic, and they usually give up.

It was a while back and might have been in another thread. Most of the pics are hosted on IMGUR. IMGUR has a removal policy. Google it.
