    Hotel Rooms

    Haven't ever heard of this. I have booked rooms 3-4 times every month for the last 2 years in different hotels in RTP area and never had this issue. I do it more for work related reasons than for personal (hobby) . Have done it from RedRoof to Marriott. No one ever even mentioned about such a thing. I normally go with Wyndham group or Marriott group (based on budget) as they accumulate points and I provide good discounts. In almost all the cases, I call them for an early check in and was granted.

    I prepay and hence never had the need to even show them a credit card at check-in. They always ask for a proof of I'd though. This sounds strange to me; but I have never been to a quality inn.

    Did you just walk in or did you call / try to book online?

    Wow, I never heard of that before. There are certainly plenty of legitimate reasons to book a hotel in your own area. Romantic "getaway" from house and kids, or being out of the house while an exterminator is working, and lots more. But if some hotels are doing this, we should know, thanks for pointing it out.

    Brothers please post info on hotels in our neck-of-the-woods that do not rent to guests with an address on their Driver License that is within 50 miles.
