I'm curious what makes a place turn from legit to HE+.

Is it the competition in the area? New ownership? New flock of girls?

Not sure how it is up there, but, here in San Diego there are a ton of places that offer a pretty decent massage for $40/ H, including HE. So, if I have a choice, good massage w / HE vs. Good massage wo / HE.

Which is exactly why many of these girls are so robotic when it comes to full hour sessions. The tip is the same, so they prefer cranking out as many hhr sessions as possible. Thus, their service ultimately suffers.

$40 for a standard HJ, usually including at least some mutual touching. Only if the service was exceptional beyond that will I give them more. There's certainly nothing wrong with rewarding good service. It is kinda weird that the tip doesn't vary with the length of the massage, since part of that theoretically includes tip on the legit part. But that seems to be the standard. There are definitely providers that demand a specific amount. And typically, the ones that ask for tip up front are the ones that ask for more than standard rates. Don't budge. As Dutch said, don't spoil the market.

Lavender is a FS place, they may give you bad service if it's only HJ.

And I agree with everyone else, done spoil the providers and push up the prices. Repeat business is your best way of thanking them.

My mistake was going there on a Saturday late morning and the 60 yo+ mamasan at the front was the only one there, so I bounced. I'd guess that later on in the day and into the evening pickins' get much better. Hopefully somebody will post a review.

Bingo. Years ago, I learned that valuable lesson whilst traveling on business in Singapore and India. Whenever I tipped the doorman or taxi driver as little as a dollar, my host would politely and gently scold me to not spoil the market.

4 was the norm for several years. Recently, mongers would tip. 5 or. 6 for nothing more than a HJ. Too much, IMO. Push back, if they demand that amount.
