We as consumers are seldom able to do much of anything to control prices on goods and services. The market dictates that. Prices on any good or service will always migrate up until demand reduces, then it stops until supply reduces.

There have been exceptions. Kmart was devastated and is now all but out of business because of the organized boycott by AFA. Actually, it was their cocky attitude that pissed off a lot of people so they joined the boycott, that and the whole Walmart thing and their undeclared moto, "OK stuff, crappy service but really good prices. " Think about it, if the execs at Kmart weren't arrogant dicks there would be no Walmart today.
