About 20 years ago Jesse Jackson blasted a school board's decision to recognize so-called black English, or Ebonics, as a legitimate language. Jackson said it was just an excuse for sloppy English. The "blue collar" speech of South Baltimore is not Ebonics, it is a different form of sloppy English.

Yes it is if you speak it. Sorry but it is a product of the neighborhood and not much you can do as you grow up but as you get older you could try to change. Maybe just watch the news and pick up a better vocabulary.

I get tired of the double standard myself. The people I know who complain the most are those with the least command of "proper" English.

I have a close acquaintance is 100% illiterate, can't really tell the difference between words that sound similar, much less homonyms, has a heavy Bawlamer accent and complains frequently about how others speak, usually along racial and ethnic lines. Amazing.

I grew up a low life working class slob (speaking for myself; not the many good people around whom I was raised; only ran into a few like this) and I have heard that poor grammar, heavily accented crapola my entire life. Just about as bad are the people I know (native speakers) who barely speak English and complain about the accent or ability in English of people who speak more than one language.

I know doctors, lawyers & CEOs. Never ever once heard that crap from them.

I came across this video on YouTube and it's worth watching. A lot of it is eco-centric to our western civilization. Bottom line take away, we mongers do What we do in an effort to smooth out and placate exceedingly delicate matters on the home front, albeit a gal friend, wife, kick it partner. Now I'm wondering if this is the same cat that caused NiteTimer to somewhat retire. I know he retired partly because of a fellow monger on here.

Ghetto- A section of a city. Especially a thickly populated slum area, Inhabited predominantly by members of a ethnic or other minority group.

Gangsta- A sociopaths member of the inner city underclass. Known primarily for being antisocial. Among many other things such as criminal activity'.
