It's still a dangerous city. I wouldn't start there if you've never done Latin America and you don't know any spanish.

You've got to be HiSpeed / LowDrag and speak spanish so you can get around / barter, dress like the locals, keep your head down and on a swivel, look like you could kick ass if needed, know where you are going, know where the bad parts of town are, keep most your money hidden in a money belt, with a give up wallet in your front pocket with some cash, no jewelry, no fancy watch, keep your smart phone hidden, know where a safe ATM is. Etc.

Yeah with a good command of Spanish downtown at $26 a night worked for me, 2 blocks to red light block, 4 strip clubs / brothels etc.

Mayorista was a cab ride for me so didn't get there this time, found what I wanted close by every time at 30,000 p or $10 and up. Was planning on Fase II one night but heard it didn't get hopping till past 11 pm so I went to the clubs around the corner to wait and saw 5+ I wanted bad, at 1/2 the price of FaseII. 1 hr at FaseII is 190 m on site and they have a 150 m take out fee + what the girls wants (at least 300 m+ to a newbie gringo for all night), so 300+150+450 m or $150, not includ cover, drinks, cab tips, etc. That can add up to a lot in FaseII, but it is probably is a better place if you don't want to be the only Gringo in a local bar like I was. I got along fine though and had locals sending me shots. LOL.

My take out at the club near me was 50 m to club and the girl was 190 m for all night and I didn't haggle much. So 240 m or $80, no cover, 1 $2 sport drink, nothing for the girl other then a bartering session. (had liquor etc in my room).

Will get to FaseII next time I hope.

Agree very much with the low key and dress like a local. My Spanish is horrible but that didn't stop me. I hired a dirt cheap carb driver from new York who took me to every casa in the city. New Life is place to be! There line up of girls coming out to greet you left me speechless! I believe the price was only 30,000 pesos! Food and drinks dirt cheap. I stayed at the Mansion and had lots of fun. My favorite hang out was the Mayorista! Girls every where for the price of a happy meal!! And let's not forget Fase Dos strip club!
