Sorry, forgot to comment on this. IMO, don't let the provider think you're in town for just a few days this once. If you can't pull off being from the rough area (e. G. , being from a suburb far away from her location), then come up with another reason why you're there and will be there regularly in the short-medium term (I. E. , not just once a year):

* You're in town visiting family, which you do several times a year, but you just have to get away from them sometimes (or a more evil version, you're in town a lot more these days because your mother is sick and you're not sure how much time she has left).

* Your company is relocating you, and you're here meeting your new boss / staff and will be looking for a house this coming weekend in preparation for your move.

* You're from out of town, but as a consultant / salesman / etc. , you just started traveling here every week or two to do business with a local client, and you only get to have fun when you're away from home (make sure you have the name and address of the district / regional / central HQ for some big company if she asks; saying, "It's confidential" might raise red flags).

You want to let her think that you might become a regular. You want to give the impression that you'll be back often enough, and looking to play, so that she'll treat you well in order that you choose to see her again. I admit it's a deceptive practice, but it only is a burden on providers who would short you otherwise, so I call it a wash morally. Of course, rip-offs will still try to screw you figuratively (and maybe not literally), but as you know that's always a risk.

It has been quite a few years ago and so my recollection is probably bad, it may as well have been like an office. They did advertise as a dance club, there was a big bill board on I-294 a few miles south of O'hare on the western side of the highway. I got the phone number off the bill board and called. Thanks for all the comments on my post, both for and against my views. We talk about specific providers, and that's great, but how often do we talk about how to approach this hobby? Not too much. Maybe that's because by the time someone's been posting here for a while, they've figured it out for themselves?

Not that I want to give any benefit of the doubt, but we as readers never really get both sides of the stories. I do believe the rip off is way too damaging in this case. The said provider may indeed be a thief and just want to rip people off for a few weeks and be done in the city. Or the said provider may care enough about the repercussion on her business and willing to do what's fair even if she hates the guy...Furthermore, I also remember that, every now and then, I've seen a few reviews on the board detailing how guys' initial encounter was bad due to misunderstanding or miscommunication or overbooking or just because providers not getting herself together on a given day. But then they got what they want during a second trial. In other words, I think a better scenario is still possible, even though it is realistically unlikely.

I did mention the possibility of a second meeting's positive outcome because I've read about providers 'making it up' -- CoolPatrick phrased it better than I did. But this is going for a long shot, and my gut feeling is it's usually doubling down on stupid. I also think she specifically is probably a rip-off, especially if there was no B2 B rub as well as stiffing him on time.

But the main point I tried to make was that we need to learn how act as smart customers in this market. Many people don't grow up learning how to negotiate, and there aren't many places to formally learn it outside of doing sales work. But we're customers when hobbying, and in most cases the customer has the real leverage. (I'm not referring to sales of unique items or where demand far outstrips supply -- that's different, of course.) So why do cars leave lots at thousands and thousands of dollars over the dealer's price? Because people don't know how to deal with the car sales process as customers, and they give up (or don't realize) the leverage they have. Some people don't even want to risk the salesman feeling bad.

Even though we may see providers more often than we buy cars, it's maybe even harder to develop experience here. Why? (1) Lust is at work -- the curves of a provider can cause an actual physical reaction that the curves of a new 4-door, or God forbid a minivan, don't. (2) We have to be sensitive (but as newbs, usually are oversensitive) to the feelings of the provider; if we piss off a car salesman, he can't ruin the experience of driving the car after we buy it, but a pissed-off provider can ruin the session. (3) Because of (warranted) caution about LEO, it's more difficult to learn how to agree on the specifics of the deal before things are underway. (4) Along with #1 and #3, if not agreed beforehand, real negotiations can often can happen right before we go balls-deep (pun intended), when we're at our weakest (often leading to the sunk cost fallacy -- throwing good money after bad). (5) We may be shy or inexperienced, as there's a social stigma (and possibly shame or guilt) to being a sex work customer that can take a while to overcome, so we're hesitant to be assertive in what we want. Also, as newbs we're not familiar with what the norms or standards are in the sex work market; even the first time you hire an accountant or a lawyer, it's a lot easier to find a good, trustworthy, fairly-priced one. (This board, and other resources, help a lot with regard to this.).

So what this long-winded post all boils down to is not only do we make mistakes as part of the learning process, but that taking every opportunity to practice helps our future experiences and reduces future rip-offs. That's why I think he should call her. It's a chance to get experience and a lesson without any downside (except if he's willing to risk it).

And some may be put off by the way I speak about this in dry, economic terms, but as someone once said about what companies do, "If they didn't charge you, they'd just be doing it for fun. " These providers are not doing it just for fun; though having fun is our primary purpose, we can't neglect the practical side. In fact, I think handling these encounters with good business sense and tact means that an encounter will be a lot less likely to be no fun.

Again, just my $0. 02 and I will likely shut the hell up after this.
