Was surfing through BP and came across Nadia's ad. I like the pictures but a bit of research didn't pull up much at all a single posting in another city. I was on my phone so wasn't sure how to image search.

I was spooked one time as there was what looked to be an unmarked, sitting out front, parked facing the main entrance. I held my head up high and walked in and out without any issues. Here's one stratagem that a monger can use when visiting a provider's hotel: Go to the front desk. Tell the person there that you have a friend who's coming to town soon and that you are scouting out a hotel for him. Ask the person at the desk if you can see one of the rooms, just to get an idea of what one looks like. More than likely, they will have an empty room and will give you a key that will operate for 30 minutes or so. Go see the room. Then, return to the front desk, turn in the room key (card), and make like you're going to exit. But, before you do, ask if they have a restroom you can use. Chances are, it's out of sight of the front desk. Once out of sight, you can probably find the stairs close by. Just take those and go see your provider.

Now, here's important part of all this: Sometimes (as happened at the Days Inn in Manassas a few months ago), the police will stop mongers who are departing a hotel late at night, and they will ask if he's staying at the hotel.

If you say "No", they then ask what business you had at the hotel. If you tell them, "I was seeing a friend, " they usually ask the name of your friend. If you can't give the full name, they have probable cause to detain you.

If you say "Yes, " they can verify with the front desk whether you're staying there. Lying to a police officer gives them probable cause to detain you.

At the very least, either a "Yes" or a "No" answer can get you in some unpleasant hot water, even if they eventually let you go.

Better to tell them, honestly, that you were checking the hotel as a possible place for a friend who's coming into town. The fact that you went to the front desk and asked to see a room legitimizes this, and the front desk can attest to your presence there for that purpose, if asked. If the police say that whatever hour you're there is an odd time to be checking on hotel rooms, you can say that you had some available time right then. (Don't say something like "I work shift", unless you do, because they can ask where you work.).

Better still, you can always ask LEO why he has stopped you and if you are being detained or are free to go. You don't have to answer their questions. If they have nothing to detain you on, they'll let you go (even if they intimate that they can haul you in for some cause). You just have to remember to keep cool and don't allow them to intimidate you or say anything that you don't need to say.
