I don't see a lot of need to get tested if you just end up with a drippy dick unless you just have a bunch of money you would like to piss away and enjoy possibly having to deal with the doctors reporting you to county health. Just tell them you have a urinary infection of some sort and insist on starting with antibiotics. Don't let the doctors get away with giving you a 10 day oral prescription. It will take a couple of miserable days for it to take effect and it could give the problem unecessary time to get worse if it is not a bacterial infection that is sensitive to the prescribed antibiotics. Have them give you a big shot in the ass of Cipro or better and go on a 14 day prescription just to make damn sure you kill it. The shot should cause an obvious improvement within 12 hours. If not then get tested because what ever you have is resistant to the meds they prescribed and may need a different course of treatment.

I've had issues over the years with chronic tonsillitis and every three years or so I get a flare up. If I do 10 days of oral antibiotics it usually comes right back on me so I insist on the shot and 14 days of oral meds. I got drippy dick awhile back and went that route as well through Urgent Care and it cleared it right up. I didn't bother with spending $500+ dollars on testing to see what it was since the antibiotic shot kicked in within a few hours for me. That's just a waste of money. Also I did not get into any dialog about my sex habits. You can get bacterial NGU infections from things like dehydration from working out too hard or hiking long distances and not drinking enough water as well as not clearing your bore real good by urinating after sex or jerking it. "Just gimmie the fucking shot Doc and we'll see what happens!"

Also finding flaky doctors who treat you and write prescriptions anonymously? That's sketchy and illegal even for antibiotics. No pharmacy that I know of will fill a prescription without ID and if you get busted with prescription meds without a prescription written out specifically to you even if they are not narcotics you can still be charged with a felony.

I usually agree with you, especially with regards to your life-long pursuit of making bareback mainstream again. However I think your post is very optimistic. It would be great if that did indeed happen in a few years, but I think that the big pharmaceutical companies that make money off producing and selling STD treatments will do all it can to stop or slow any possible "eradication of STD's". I do like the optimism though.

As to your prediction of full panel tests costing $10 in the future. Well that would be amazing. Particularly since my preferred full panel testing at Talent Testing costs up to $200 currently. But the reason I stick with that and think it's worth it is because I know I'm getting tested by the best available technology in the world, and I know that the window period is only a week maximum whereas it's up to 3 months at a free random clinic, and I know my results will be securely e-mailed to me just a few hours after leaving the testing center. That gets me most of the barebacking I need.

Really only works for chlymidia or ghonnarea. For Trichomoniasis and candida you need an -azole type drug, and the more serious ones like Syphillis need treatment that you can't readily get online.

For better or worse, here's a quick list of stds and treatments I wrote last year:

Treatment Is Valtrex which is available as a generic. If you have frequent outbreaks, you can take one Valtrex a day for suppression. Condoms do not adequately protect against herpes.

Hepatitis: you should be vaccinated for A and be. The vaccination protocol takes 18 months.

ANNUAL TESTING
You should be tested at least annually for syphilis, hepatitis, and HIV. These diseases frequently have no obvious symptoms, and the earlier you get treatment, the better your life will be.


Things you won't attempt to self treat:


Syphillis: requires one or more injections of penicillin. There are some alternate therapies for penicillin allergivpc patients.

Hepatitis C: apparently there is now a cure, and it is costly: Havroni is $1200 a pill, with one pill a day for 12 weeks.

Things you might self treat:

Ureatheral:

Chlamydia: Doxycycline works for chlamydia, but you have to take it twice a day for a week. Preferred is Azithromycin as a 1000 mg single dose (you still need to wait a week to have sex to prevent spreading the disease).

Gonorrhea: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) was the drug of choice for gonorrhea. But the CDC now recommends an injection of Ceftriaxone. Ciprofloxacin was 500 mg one time dose. (Gonorrhea is very weak). Current guidelines is I'm injection Ceftriaxone and 1000 mg Azithromycin.

Alternate (for gonorrhea self treatment without injection) is Cefixime 400 mg orally in a single dose, plus Azithromycin 1 g orally in a single dose.

The Azithromycin is added to target other UTI that may accompany the clap, including chlamydia.

Parasites and Fungal

Scabies/lice/crabs: treated with a permethrin cream. 5% for scabies. You can make your own permethrin cream using Martins Permethrin 10% (water based) and mixing 50/50 with a good lotion. Cover entire body up to scalp, avoid eyes and face. Leave on for 14 hours. Wash all bed linen ends in hot water and dry for an hour. Martin's Permethrin 10% is available on Amazon as its a general broad spectrum pesticide.

Ivermectin Is an oral treatment for scabies. 200 micrograms per Kg or body weight (154 lbs would take 18 mg once, mane again in two weeks).

Trichomoniasis Is treated with an oral dose of Metronidazole 2 g orally in a single dose or Tinidazole 2 g orally in a single dose. It is very important to not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours after these.

Candida (yeast infection) (unlikely but possible for a male to have it) is treated mainly by an anti fungal cream (monistat). Most treatments for jock itch are also effective against candida. But you'll notice everything that the concentrations in products like monistat are higher than most jock itch creams. For instance Ticonazole 6. 5% for one time application, or Clotrimazole 2% for three day application.

Oral Diflucain (expensive) is also useful for candida. (Fluconazole 150 mg orally in a single dose).

Meds for mongers:


This is a shopping list for Meds. I have not determined yet if they are all available from a Mexican pharmacy (the main way to get Meds without an Rx).

Oral:

Azithromycin 1000 mg, (UTI's and chlamydia, and a lot of others).

Other: doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 7 days for chlymidia and some others is an alternate to Azithromycin. Azithromycin is preferred, but if you find yourself using it often, you should alternate with doxycycline to prevent resistant strains.

For the Tijuana mongers, scabies seems to pop up frequently (how many couples have been on top of that blanket in that upstairs room within the last few hours), particularly during the warmer months. All the Tijuana pharmacies sell 5% permethrin crème under the brand name "Scabacan" (I think that's the correct spelling). It's about $3. 00 USA, which is way cheaper than you'll pay for a doctor's visit plus prescription in the USA If you are down there, think about picking up a tube just to keep on hand.

As an FYI for any with a SO, you can discretely "spot treat" for scabies if you nail it at the first sign. Problem is, you probably have to have had it to recognize the first sign.
