The really stupid thing about all this is that the do-gooders think they're stopping sex trafficking, when they're actually making it worse. There are nine of these places all within a square mile or so of each other now in Waltham, and for those in the know and versed in how to behave at them, prostitution of every level and degree is available at them. Due to their close proximity to each other, Waltham is practically a red light district on its own, so yes a little clean up is probably due, and a little digging would probably uncover other crimes within that community. Five years ago I contacted Sqt. Guigno about this and it temporarily got better in 2011, and then has slid and worsened until where it is now. I also contacted John Zuppe in June, and he defended one of these places and told me there weren't any Board of Health issues there, but now has flip flopped, but regardless of the city's past inconsistencies, it seems this time they will get the job done, which is hopeful. I do use these establishments regularly, and am an insider at a few of the current and past ones, but even I feel that there are just too many in the city and some shady stuff is going down that ought to be looked into, and yes I did have an axe to grind with a few specific people at some of these places. I am also willing to drive to other areas that have these places should the ones in Waltham go out of business, and will probably continue to do so. I have no problem with all my hometown ones being effected, there are plenty more I can patronize elsewhere and will, but at least I can settle a few scores here in Waltham, so I support the Police and Board of Health actions. I won't sweat it
