SP's seeking references is something fairly new. I, personally, believe it is because of social media and the fact that the hobby moves much faster than it used to. Something to consider is that many of the ladies know each other and share intel. As a result, they sort of have their own list of who they trust or don't trust in accepting references.

If I were starting today in this hobby I think I would definitely stay with the advertiser section of this web site. I would go back three or four pages and read all the ads. There are a few SP's that don't require references. Once you see a couple of them you can then use them as references.

An honorable mention is the new advertiser web site. It is only a few days old but already I see most of our ladies are advertising over there, including one or two legends that will see you and require no references but are trusted by the other SP's.

The other thing I would do, if I were starting out in the hobby is, after picking a list of ladies (like, at least six) I would then search out reviews and look for trends just to assure I WILL have a good experience. You are correct, there are rip off artists in the hobby. We tend to expose them fairly quickly.

One last thought. When you show up for your date tell the SP you are new to the hobby and you are nervous. Things will tend to go quite well for you.

The saga of my continued foray into Otown resulting into a triumph. My batting average went way up from one out of six to two out of seven. I was very apprehensive when I texted her about an hour and a half before heading out to Orlando from the Space Coast because of my previous history of dismal failures in connectionsin in Otown.
