I have a hobby burner phone, so it can't be traced to me from a provider's phone. I'm really not too worried about the cops getting it because I keep it locked. And unless I were involved in some major ring, which I'm not, I'm not going to fret over a warrant forcing me to unlock it. I'm cautious, but not paranoid.

While a provider can ALWAYS change her mind (and they frequently do) having what they agreed to in text has saved me from being up-sold and up-priced on many occasions now.
