It happens to the best of us. I have been taken similarly by Shar with whom I had a good history. Just have to remember to never pay before play. I now always insist on the deed before dropping them off for their errands or to pay their 'debts', even as far as to tell them that the cash is on the dashboard, they can take it after completion.
