All of these comments are good advice and should be considered to be proper protocol no matter which end of the phone you are holding. It only takes seconds to send a text before a hobbiest leaves for his destination, and only a few more minutes to wait for a reply to confirm that the appointment is still on. I make it clear that whenever I play a 'road game' more than 15 minutes from my home field, that I will not leave until I get a reply to confirm the appointment is still on. In addition, if it's my first time, I insist that I get an address with that confirmation, so I know exactly where I am going. I tell them in my initial request, that I will not leave until I hear back, with the address. I have made that 55 minute drive more than once to find out that the phone went silent after getting close, or the venue had moved to the other side of town, or even the other side of the river, adding another 30 minutes each way to my trip. I am amazed at how quickly I get a response, when I send that second text telling them that I am canceling my appointment, because they have failed to confirm or provide me the exact location. Of course, when these change of plans occur and are carried out in a considerate and respectful way, I have no reason to post a negative review... If they are not, this is why we have this thread.
