This is a bogus story. Every so often I read about LE decoys getting in cars. Every time it is second hand account and they did not actually see the decoy getting into a guys car. There is simply to much risk for the decoy LE and a cop check would give them away. After all no female cop wants touch some guys dick or have him feel her. I have seen on on COPS where the SW will get in a car, but they bust the guy before he can close the door and or drive away.

So I hope you are correct that things have not gotten that bad. I am going to try to look for any current law changes, involving this matter!

Decoys have gotten in cars, maybe not in Baltimore. It depends on the department. They make sure the client agrees to pull into a parking lot right there or very very close. The decoy is live-miked. She either gets in there, or meets him and gets in once he's pulled in and with engine off. They swoop in once acts for money verbalized, and the decoy acts surprised / scared until she is out of the car. Also, this way, the arrest and tow is not on the street and more johns arent scared off. They run it over and over. They also do this on the sidewalk by motel, decoy brings guy into room (with the cops in another room with live video).

Undercovers get into all types of less controlled, more dangerous situations. Decoys are usually either vice (if the still have that as a squad, although most departments have done away with 'vice' units) but usually they are experienced patrol officers working there way up to detective or undercover. It is a much more tightly controlled, safer environment than undercover, and cops wanting that experience will not shy away from it.

But girls getting into cars and then having cars followed is a troubling game change if it is true. I'd think that it places an undercover female in greater risk than the piddling charge of prostitution calls for. Either way, caution is paramount these days. All the loops seem to have taken major hits lately. I don't pick up anyone I've not seen walking or hanging with another known SW. Better to miss a scoop than get arrested.
