The worse of it is that once in the course of my work I actually had to answer the question if there is a difference between the way this particular word is used in Russian vs. In English and after thinking it over my answer was that while in Russian it could only carry negative connotation, in English it could sometimes actually emphasize the positive. In case of Lmao I just didn't make that connection. In fact,"shit" probably could even be neutral too, right? Like "this is some serious shit" wouldn't mean either good or bad until you either elaborate on what kind of "shit" exactly are you talking about or unless it is already known which "shit" you are referring to, am I right?

In fact I suspect that English is the only language where the word whose original meaning meant to describe an excrement can be used in a positive way. At least, I suspect that the word "merda" can never mean anything positive in any of the Latin languages.

So far, I couldn't think of any word in Russian that has similar qualities. I'll think some more and actually may even ask around.

That's a really good idea and a good website. Thats why this forum is the SHIT! When I travel I usually ask the taxi drivers where I could find some good pussy. You know what, you should name you next blond Lorelei!). One thing you do want to avoid with most Brazilians though is an Afro-Brazilian religion called Macumba (kind of their equivalent of our Voodoo). Many of them are literally terrified of it and begin to cross themselves frantically at its mention. Naming a Brazilian girl after Macumba goddess may lead to many curses bestowed on you both in your face and behind your back.
